Space Heaters
Space heaters are used to avoid moisture condensation on electric motors and generators when not in use. Whenever the motors or generators are switched off, the space heaters are activated. They raised the inner temperature of motor and generators about 5 to 10 degree C above the ambient temperature.
Some manufactures use metallic space heaters. They are smaller in size, they will have to operate at higher temperature to heat the whole inner space of the motors. Flexible heaters are larger in size and can be spread over much larger area. This help to spread heat more uniformly inside the body of motors and generators. Another advantage of the flexible heaters is that they can be directly attached to the winding. They have much larger life than the metallic space heaters because they operate at much lower temperature and can be touched by hand even when they are in use. It help us to achieve the required heating with much lower power consumption then the metallic heaters.
